Karate Practice

9:30-10:30AM SATURDAYS

"Karateka" means "a practitioner of karate", recognising that the student's journey has now begun in full. Karateka have a strong focus on technique and application, while continuing to develop both personal and interpersonal skills. They learn a wide range of techniques, including  multiple punches, blocks, kicks, strikes, stances, steps and combinations, with more advanced variations introduced the older and more highly graded they become. They apply these techniques through pad work, self defence scenarios and controlled sparring.

Karateka grade on a classic "kyu" grading system, receiving solid colour belts with three tips between each belt/grade. They remain on this system until they are ready to attempt their preliminary black belt grade.
